All Aboard For Treasure Hunting

An elderly woman and an elderly man standing behind a counter, both wearing black shirts with a yellow circular logo that says "Across the Tracks" and something else. The woman has short gray hair and glasses, and the man has a full white beard and short light hair. They are smiling. The background includes shelves, papers, and a T-shirt hanging on the wall.

From Passion to Place: The Story of Across The Tracks

Across The Tracks Antiques & More was born from a simple idea — to bring a multi-vendor antique destination to our hometown of Honesdale. Owners Janet and Warren Heinly have spent over two decades exploring antique malls and co-ops wherever they traveled, always thinking, “Honesdale needs a place like this.”

After retiring from years of teaching in Wayne Highlands, Janet and Warren purchased a 200-year-old home in nearby Bethany and transformed it into a bed & breakfast, developing and sharing a love of history. Decorating that old home deepened their passion for antiques. When it came time to downsize after COVID, they became vendors at Plains Antiques — and soon began searching for a space of their own.

In late 2023, that space appeared — right next to the train tracks — and Across The Tracks Antiques & More came to life.

Today, the shop brings together more than 30 vendors offering antiques, vintage finds, home décor, art, and handmade treasures. Customers are greeted with a smile, friendly conversation, and often a wave to the passing train.

“We’re amazed every day by the unique finds that come through our doors,” Janet says. “It’s wonderful to see the old become new again — and loved once more”.
